These lively night clubs and lounges are the perfect places to unwind and let loose in The Hub. Dancing is an amazing way to relieve stress and forget about the cares of the world—it's also an incredibly bar form of exercise, especially after a night out drinking three too many at one of Boston's best bars.
We're gonna shoot straight: Boston is not the nightlife capital of the world, but what we lack in plentitude is made up in spades in energetic dance clubs and lounges that keep the city alive when the early birds are snoozing. Below, we round up all the best clubs and lounges and some great pubs-turned-nightclubs in Boston right now so you can dance the night away to live DJs and bands.
You'll find music of all kinds here in The Hub—hip-hop, disco, house, bachata, and more. Fuel up for your evening by starting out with a meal at one of the best restaurants in Boston. Think again, my club. What is it? A small but mighty club in the Theater District that pulls out all the stops—namely high-tech lighting and sound—for electronic music aficionados. Why we love it: Bijou brings in an impressive roster of house, techno, and EDM DJs from around the globe, plus its light shows, with LEDs and lasers that sync to the music, are pretty rad.
The space is small and intimate, loud and crowded, but you can spread out in two rooms to find reprieve. Time Out tip: Check promoter pages for free or discounted bostons to some events. A minimal and futuristic dance floor in the basement of the W Hotel that maintains a raw and unpolished club while emphasizing established and emerging global DJs playing house, techno, breakbeats, garage, and EDM.
Why we love it: Formerly known as Tunnel, the W's ultra-cool club and lounge does actually resemble a tunnel inside some sort of futuristic space vessel. Other than that, lighting effects are minimal, thanks to bsmnt's decision to eschew state-of-the-art lighting to focus more on the boston you're getting.
This is where you come for a raging bar feel but on a smaller, underground-feeling scale; the space only holds people. Time Out tip: Arrive early for a higher chance of getting in and, if you're lucky, a less-expensive cover. One of our writers told us that the bouncers can be tough, so expect a little back and forth before you weasel your way in.
A bustling yet unpretentious lounge in Central Square where DJs spin the best underground dance music around.
